Hotel Information

There are a number of hotels in DuPont if you'd like to stay close to our house. Downtown Tacoma has lots to offer well. If staying in Tacoma, places along Ruston Way down on the waterfront are particularly nice, or staying at the McMenamins Elks Temple is fun with it's 5 bars/restaurants in it including a really tiki bar. 

For military affiliated friends, JBLM has multiple hotels on base. The hotels on the Lewis side of JBLM are closer to our house. The hotels on the McChord Field side are closer to the ceremony. 

Local Area

Both Tacoma and Olympia are about 30 minutes away from DuPont. 

I've created a wander log with some of our favorite places in the area on it. I hope that it will give you some ideas of things you can do here. I'll continue to add things as I think of them.

Chemo complete! Now time to take a break...

Hello friends! I am sorry it's been a few weeks since I last posted. I took a much needed mental break over the past few weeks, and not posting much on the blog or social media was a part of that.  My final day of chemo and the Donut Day celebration were wonderful! Tim coordinated a yard sign and for our friends to decorate our house to celebrate being done. We also bought ten dozen donuts and lots of popsicles to hand out to friends who stopped by to say hi and celebrate my last day. We had so many people come to say hello and celebrate with us outside despite the rain. It was wonderful to see everyone who joined us! I got so much joy from all of the photos that were sent my way showing how you were celebrating with us! Your photos will be added to a photo book I am creating to remember such a wonderful day. It feels so good to be done with this chapter and I am thankful for your support through the past 5 months.  Slowly but surely my energy is coming back which is wonderful...

Good news - No Radiation Necessary!

We got some great news this week! The cancer has not spread to my lymph nodes and the surgeon got clean margins on my surgery site. Although this doesn't mean that I can just get back to the life I planned to live in 2021, it does mean that I don't have to endure radiation treatment. That is a triple blessing - no more tumor, no cancer in the lymph nodes, and no radiation! I'll take it! Here's another thing to celebrate - Tim passed his check ride for his training and is back home! He's officially able to be airborne again and is now officially the best helper ever! What's next you might be asking... well, right now I am in a holding pattern. There are still no dates set for the next steps of my treatment plan, we aren't sure which surgery comes next, and the appointments with specialists haven't stopped. We still do not know if I will need chemo. More test results have to come back before we'll have a clear answer about that. The same goes for hormo...
